Scumbag Loser

High school student Masahiko Murai possesses only one notable trait: an unusually acute sense of smell. Unfortunately, his olfactory gift leans toward foul odors, hardly a quality that earns social standing among his peers. Accepting his low status, Masahiko maintains modest expectations. He does not need to be admired or popular; he simply needs to avoid being the absolute lowest on the school's social hierarchy. For years, another classmate reliably occupied that bottom rung, keeping Masahiko safely above it. However, when that classmate unexpectedly secures a girlfriend, panic sets in. Desperate to preserve his fragile position, Masahiko fabricates a long-distance relationship with a girl from his past named Haruka Mizusawa. His classmates are initially doubtful, but their skepticism vanishes when Haruka physically appears at school the following day and confirms his story. Yet this apparent salvation conceals a terrifying secret Masahiko withheld from everyone: Haruka Mizusawa died several years ago. The entity now wearing her face has chosen to support his lie for reasons unknown. As the deception deepens, Masahiko is forced to confront a chilling reality, discovering that there are far worse fates than merely being considered a loser.
