The Hidden Strength of Liu Shan

Liu Shan, the ruler of Shu Han, was ridiculed for his inability to be a capable leader. Behind closed doors, however, he was secretly manipulating events to further his own agenda. He pretended to be weak and incompetent, deceiving even his trusted advisors, including Zhuge Liang and Li Yan. Unbeknownst to his courtiers, Liu Shan had received a secret instruction from his father, Liu Bei, known as the "Emperor's Strategy of Checks and Balances." This strategy laid the groundwork for the revival of the Han dynasty within Liu Shan's heart. He cleverly kept a fragment of the tiger tally, a symbol of imperial authority, as a secret weapon to control the imperial guards. Additionally, he maintained a network of shadow guards who secretly monitored the court and the spies from the rival kingdoms of Wei and Wu. Liu Shan's true strength was masked by his feigned incompetence, allowing him to utilize his powerful ministers to counter the threats against him. He skillfully played a long game, orchestrating a strategy to subdue the southern rebels, using Li Yan to intimidate the enemy, and personally leading the Northern Expedition.
