1999! Occult Countermeasures Department

Through a cascade of unforeseen mishaps, Marcus—a deeply shy and socially awkward young man—finds himself thrust into the role of department head for the Occult Incident Countermeasures Department. It is an absurd appointment for someone who becomes visibly nervous merely raising his voice. Yet, the position is his to bear, forcing him to navigate a world far beyond his comfort zone while managing responsibilities he never sought. His new team offers little in the way of conventional support. Colleagues like Xingti and Rabbit Fur Handbag are wildly eccentric and fiercely unpredictable, their strange behavior making daily operations feel chaotic. As supernatural crises inevitably arise, the central question becomes whether Marcus can summon the courage to step up and serve as the stabilizing backbone this bizarre unit desperately needs. Beneath the surface-level oddities, however, lies a deeper mystery regarding the true nature of his squad. Their unconventional methods and peculiar demeanors mask an underlying question: are these seemingly erratic individuals genuinely unreliable when it matters most, or does their strangeness conceal a hidden competence waiting to be unleashed?
