Sabbath Cafe

When Yonogi Dai transfers to St. George International School in Tokyo, he quickly becomes the center of attention. Despite attending a Japanese institution, Dai was raised entirely in the United States and has only just arrived in the country for the first time. Beneath his gentle, approachable appearance lies a deeply aloof young man who shows little interest in forming connections. His cold demeanor frustrates his peers, particularly Jerry Morton, a popular and well-liked student who initially intends to keep his distance. However, driven by his inherently kind and inquisitive nature, Jerry decides to reach out. Along with their friend Marty and the rest of their circle, Jerry slowly breaks through Dai’s guarded exterior, though every step forward is often met with a sharp reminder that Dai does not yet consider them true friends. As the group persists, the mysteries surrounding the enigmatic transfer student gradually unravel. They begin uncovering the hidden truths behind his sudden arrival in Japan, his complicated family history, and his sole personal connection back in the States—a figure named Ken. Most intriguingly, they learn of his unexpected ties to a widely famous game known as "Sabbath Child." Through this journey of discovery, Dai’s new companions finally come to understand the real person beneath the walls he built, while Dai simultaneously learns to recognize genuine friendship and discover his own true self.
