The story begins when Gintoki crosses paths with Haruta, a young boy surviving on the streets as a pickpocket. Rather than acting out of simple greed, Haruta steals with a singular, heartbreaking purpose: to reunite with his long-lost mother, Hiwa. She was once celebrated as the most renowned courtesan in Yoshiwara, an underground district shrouded in secrecy and strict control. Moved by the child's unwavering devotion, Gintoki and his companions resolve to help Haruta achieve his dream. Together, they descend into the hidden depths of Yoshiwara, determined to navigate its perilous environment and fulfill the boy’s wish. However, their mission quickly draws dangerous attention. The district is governed by Housen, a fearsome tyrant known as the Night King, who rules over Yoshiwara with absolute authority. To bring Haruta and his mother back together, Gintoki and his friends must confront this ruthless sovereign and challenge the unbreakable grip he holds over the entire subterranean world.
