The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity

Chidori High School is an all-boys institution known for enrolling students with the lowest academic standing, while the neighboring Kikyo Girls’ High caters exclusively to young women from affluent, high-society families. Rintarou, a second-year student at Chidori, possesses an intimidating appearance that belies his genuinely kind nature. While helping out at his family’s patisserie, he crosses paths with a girl named Kaoruko. The two share an immediate and natural connection, enjoying a brief period of uncomplicated companionship. However, this peaceful dynamic is abruptly shattered when Rintarou learns that Kaoruko is actually a student at the prestigious Kikyo Girls’ High. To make matters more complicated, she appears entirely unaware of the significant social divide between their respective schools and the problems their association could cause. As word begins to spread, both Rintarou and Kaoruko find themselves navigating a minefield of judgment and hostility from peers who view their friendship as unacceptable. Together, they must determine whether their bond is strong enough to overcome the literal and figurative obstacles placed in their path by disapproving classmates determined to keep their two worlds apart.
