Tono to Inu

Set against the turbulent backdrop of Japan's Warring States period, Tono to Inu follows the unexpected daily life of a man whose past stands in stark contrast to his present. Once revered as a fearsome god on the battlefield, Tono has since fallen from grace and succumbed to poverty. Stripped of his former glory, he now resides in a humble tenement house, struggling to make ends meet in a world far removed from the chaos of war. Despite his meager circumstances and the constant struggle to sustain himself, Tono takes in a stray dog. However, this act of kindness does not bring him the loyal companionship one might expect. Instead, the unruly animal refuses to obey his commands, choosing instead to roam freely and live entirely on its own terms. The once-feared warrior finds himself constantly pushed around by his new companion, forced to navigate a quiet but comical domestic battle where the dog reigns supreme and Tono is left to follow its lead.
