Kinokoinu Mushroom Pup

Picture book author Hotaru Yuuyami is plunged into profound grief following the loss of his beloved dog, Hanako. Overwhelmed by sorrow and a lingering sense of helplessness, he struggles to find his way forward. One day, while idly observing his garden, he notices an unusual pink mushroom growing beneath a snow willow tree. To his astonishment, the peculiar organism begins to move, wagging its tail as it approaches him. Despite his bewilderment at discovering what can only be described as a "mushroom dog," Hotaru decides to welcome the enigmatic creature, Kinokoinu, into his home. Life with Kinokoinu quickly becomes chaotic. The mischievous companion draws in forbidden places, devours entire batches of melon bread and takoyaki, and creates endless messes, yet its playful nature makes it impossible to dislike. As Hotaru navigates these antics alongside his childhood friend Komako, his editor, and Yara from the Mushroom Research Institute, his once-sorrowful expression gradually softens. This gently mysterious and heartwarming animated series follows the humorous daily lives of Hotaru and his companions as they share their world with a truly inexplicable friend.
