Izaki is a student defined by his relentless drive to be the best. For him, success is entirely earned through hard work, and he consistently proves capable of rising to any challenge, whether in his school club or on the tennis court. Beyond his dedication, Izaki possesses a sharp, perceptive nature. He takes quiet pleasure in seeing through the bluster and pretense of those around him—not out of arrogance or a desire to show off, but because superficiality genuinely irritates him. His polar opposite is Hakamada, a quiet young man whose vacant expression masks a profound depth. Unlike Izaki, Hakamada is a natural prodigy to whom everything comes effortlessly. Without studying or straining himself, he consistently manages to come out on top. This stark contrast becomes a source of deep frustration for Izaki. Despite pouring every ounce of his energy into his pursuits, he is forced to confront a bitter reality: no matter how hard he tries, he will never reach the effortless heights that Hakamada achieves without even attempting.
