City Hunter The Movie: Angel Dust

Produced to celebrate the thirty-fifth anniversary of the City Hunter television anime, this film follows Ryou Saeba, the underworld’s most elite sweeper. Operating out of Shinjuku as a private detective alongside his partner Kaori Makimura, Ryou accepts cases from all walks of life. Their newest client is Angie, an attractive filmmaker who hires them for a seemingly straightforward task: locating her missing cat. While Ryou is captivated by Angie’s beauty and Kaori is motivated by the generous payment, the job quickly reveals hidden depths. Simultaneously, Metropolitan Police officer Saeko Nogami is investigating Zoltech, a biotechnology corporation responsible for a sinister advancement in warfare. The company has developed a method to transform ordinary soldiers into superhuman combatants. Commissioned by a shadowy criminal syndicate, this technology represents the latest iteration of Angel Dust—the very substance that nearly killed Ryou and claimed the life of his former partner, Hideyuki Makimura. As these parallel investigations unfold, it becomes evident that Angie’s request conceals far more than she admits. The resurfacing of Angel Dust draws Ryou toward an unavoidable confrontation tied directly to his origins as a sweeper. With long-buried secrets threatening to unravel everything, the final chapter of his story begins.
