Sabaki no Mon

Lance is a devil condemned to an agonizing punishment: standing watch at the gates separating Heaven and Hell. His eternal duty is to deceive the souls of the dead, manipulating them into descending into damnation rather than ascending to paradise. This cruel task comes with an absolute condition—he can never speak the truth. Should he ever utter honest words, his very existence will be erased, causing him to vanish entirely. After countless ages of deceit, Lance is finally on the verge of completing his sentence. Only one more soul needs to be tricked into Hell before his punishment ends and he can claim his long-awaited freedom. For a creature born of darkness, weaving lies should be effortless. However, his impending salvation transforms into an impossible torment when a familiar spirit approaches the gates for judgment. The soul standing before him belongs to the one person he cherishes above all others. Now, Lance faces a devastating dilemma that defies his nature. To secure his own release, he must condemn the individual he loves most to an eternity of suffering through deception. Yet, if he chooses to speak the truth to save them, he will instantly cease to exist. Caught between self-preservation and devotion, Lance must confront the ultimate price of his cursed existence.
