Gifuu Doudou!!: Kaze no Gunshi Kuroda Kanbee

"If you had not unified the country, who would have?" Near the end of his life, Ieyasu Tokugawa poses this profound question before recounting a remarkable tale to his grandson. He speaks of the man he considered one of the greatest figures of his era: the supreme strategist of the Sengoku Period, Josui Ensei. Known to history as Kuroda Kanbee Yoshitaka, he was a brilliant mind whose presence moved like the wind itself, shaping the fate of a fractured nation through intellect and foresight. Tokugawa’s account paints Kanbee as a truly free spirit, a man whose daring nature rivaled even the legendary audacity of Oda Nobunaga. Rather than relying solely on brute force or rigid tradition, Kanbee possessed an extraordinary ability to read the shifting currents of his time. Like sensing the direction of the wind, he interpreted the chaotic political landscape to guide his every decision. Through Tokugawa’s reflective storytelling, the manga explores how this exceptional tactician navigated the treacherous conflicts of the warring states era, leaving behind a legacy that even the ultimate unifier of Japan felt compelled to pass down to future generations.
