Futsuu no Joshikousei ga Yattemita.

Nanako is an ordinary high school girl whose daily routine takes an unexpected turn when her uncle asks her to become a local idol for their town. Teaming up with her upperclassman, Yukari, the two girls step into the spotlight as their community’s newest promotional duo. What initially sounds like a glamorous opportunity quickly reveals itself to be a far more modest endeavor than either of them anticipated. Rather than enjoying the fame and fortune associated with mainstream pop stardom, Nanako and Yukari soon discover that their new idol lifestyle is decidedly underwhelming. Their promotional duties consist of brief interviews at the local shopping center, appearances on low-budget cable television programs, and small-scale concerts performed on the rooftops of department stores. Far from sold-out arenas and cheering crowds, their stage is limited to the humble corners of their own municipality. Adding to the unconventional nature of their venture, the girls are not compensated through traditional entertainment industry channels. Instead, their salaries are drawn directly from the town’s tax revenue, tying their fledgling careers entirely to the civic budget. As they navigate this uniquely grounded approach to idol life, Nanako and Yukari must find their footing in a role that demands genuine dedication despite its distinctly unglamorous reality.
