Uncle from Another World

Seventeen years after falling into a mysterious coma, Takafumi’s uncle suddenly awakens as though rising from the grave. However, his return to consciousness brings far more than simple relief for his family. Takafumi quickly uncovers two astonishing truths about his relative: not only does the man possess an all-consuming devotion to video games, but during his years of unresponsiveness in the real world, he was actually living as a heroic guardian transported to an entirely different realm. Now faced with the surreal reality of sharing his home with a genuinely magical uncle, Takafumi must navigate a bizarre new domestic life. Beyond adjusting to his relative's otherworldly abilities, he is tasked with bridging a massive generational and cultural gap. He must introduce his uncle to nearly two decades of technological and social progress, including smartphones, high-speed internet, and modern anime conventions. Perhaps most daunting of all, Takafumi must carefully break the devastating news regarding the outcome of the 1990s console war—a revelation that might prove even more shocking to a dedicated gamer than magic itself.
