Gokko

Yoyoko is a spirited young girl who spends her days alongside her single father, an unabashed otaku. Their unconventional household is frequently joined by Machi, the father’s boisterous childhood friend who now works as a police officer. Together, this mismatched trio shares a dynamic so warm and natural that they could easily pass for a genuine family. For Yoyoko, these joyful, carefree moments feel like a reality she wishes would never end. However, the illusion of domestic bliss begins to fracture when deeply buried secrets are finally brought into the light. As literal skeletons emerge from the closet, the group is forced to confront uncomfortable truths about their lives and relationships. The central question becomes whether the bond they have built is resilient enough to withstand the harsh realities threatening to tear them apart, or if their time together has merely been an elaborate game of make-believe. Drawing inspiration from his own experiences raising a child, creator Shouji Hiroyuki crafts a narrative that defies simple categorization. Gokko seamlessly blends humor with profound emotional weight, delivering a story that is simultaneously hilarious, deeply thought-provoking, and ultimately tragic.
