When they were just ten years old, best friends Musashi and Kojirou listened in breathless silence as Kojirou’s father recounted tales of malevolent demons preying upon the innocent and the brave warriors who rose to defeat them. Inspired by these stories, the boys spent their days practicing swordplay and swore a solemn oath to become the strongest fighters in the world. However, as the years passed, their shared dream began to fracture. Kojirou grew cynical and disillusioned, while Musashi faced the crushing reality that he alone could not dismantle a brutal demonic regime that had ruled for over a century and a half. Now recognized more for his skill with a pickaxe than a blade, Musashi is widely regarded as a prodigy of manual labor. He stands on the verge of resigning himself to a quiet life of endless toil, abandoning the childhood vow he once held dear. Yet, a lingering sense of duty continues to haunt him, refusing to let his spirit rest. Despite his doubts, Musashi cannot escape the conviction that he bears a responsibility to fight back. As the relentless injustices of his demon-ruled world press ever closer, circumstances will soon leave him no choice but to finally take a stand.
