Komi Can’t Communicate

Hitohito Tadano is a remarkably timid young man who has spent his life deliberately avoiding the spotlight. Perfectly content to blend into the background as an unremarkable wallflower, he enters high school with no ambitions other than maintaining his quiet, unnoticed existence. However, his carefully planned anonymity is immediately disrupted on the very first day of classes when he finds himself unexpectedly alone in a classroom with Shouko Komi, a student whose beauty and mystique have already elevated her to legendary status among their peers. While most students interpret Komi’s silence as cold indifference or untouchable arrogance, Tadano quickly recognizes the truth hidden beneath her composed exterior. She is not aloof at all; rather, she suffers from severe social awkwardness that leaves her entirely unable to initiate even the simplest conversation. Moved by her silent struggle and realizing the profound isolation she endures, Tadano makes a life-altering decision to step outside his comfort zone. He dedicates himself to becoming her first genuine companion, committing fully to an ambitious mission: helping Komi overcome her paralyzing communication barriers so she can successfully achieve her heartfelt dream of making one hundred friends.
