Koi to Gunkan

Endou Kana is a middle school student harboring a deep, secret affection for the town's handsome mayor—a man twenty-eight years her senior. From her perspective, this unspoken devotion feels pure and sincere, yet her idealized vision of romance is quickly complicated by unsettling discoveries about the man she admires. The mayor appears to share a highly suspicious relationship with an older, unkempt manga artist known for creating provocative work. This scruffy, chain-smoking creator seems far too close to the polished politician for comfort. The evidence of their bond is difficult to ignore: both men wear the exact same cologne, own matching bathrobes, and regularly spend the night together under mysterious circumstances. Confronted with these bewildering clues, Kana is left to question the very nature of affection itself. She must weigh whether her innocent, youthful feelings hold more genuine purity than the complex, unconventional realities of adult relationships unfolding right before her eyes. This bizarre romantic entanglement pushes boundaries in every direction, blending absurdity with earnest emotional questions. It also raises a playful challenge regarding its publication, leaving readers to wonder how such a wildly unrestrained character as Nishi Keiko was ever permitted to run rampant within the pages of Nakayoshi magazine.
