Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko

Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko is a heartwarming and moving comedy-drama centered on an unconventional mother-and-daughter pair who embrace life with remarkable enthusiasm. Nikuko, the easygoing and cheerful mother, approaches every day with passion and an insatiable appetite for delicious food. Though she has a tendency to fall for the wrong men, she remains guided by her joyful philosophy that being ordinary is truly the greatest gift of all. Her loud, bold personality defines their daily existence as they make their home together aboard a boat docked at the local port. For her eleven-year-old daughter Kikuko, who is just entering the turbulent early stages of puberty, living with such an exuberant mother can be deeply embarrassing. The two appear to share very little in common beyond their unusual floating residence, creating a quiet tension between Nikuko’s uninhibited spirit and her daughter’s growing desire to blend in. Yet beneath the surface of their seemingly mismatched lives lies a hidden truth waiting to emerge. When their long-kept secret is finally brought to light, it sparks a miraculous shift in their relationship, transforming this not-so-ordinary family and proving that their unique bond is far stronger than either of them ever realized.
