The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

With only a week remaining until Christmas Eve, Haruhi and the rest of the SOS Brigade are eagerly preparing for their holiday celebrations. However, before the festivities can begin, Kyon—the group’s sole ordinary member—wakes to find his reality entirely rewritten. He has been thrust into a strange alternate world where Haruhi attends a completely different school, Nagato is no longer a time-traveling android but an ordinary human girl, and Mikuru, the charming companion he admires, does not recognize him at all. In this unsettling new existence, the SOS Brigade was never formed. Desperate to restore his world, Kyon searches for answers and discovers a single crucial clue: a bookmark left behind by the original, robotic version of Nagato. This artifact propels him on a journey backward through time, forcing him to relive the events of “Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody,” a pivotal episode from the earlier collection The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya. Blending whimsical holiday charm with profound existential stakes, this quirky narrative echoes the timeless spirit of A Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life.
