The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya

This third volume in the Haruhi Suzumiya series, featuring an introductory prologue, presents a collection of four distinct short stories set chronologically before the events of The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya. In the title story, Haruhi enters the SOS Brigade into a city-wide baseball tournament in her latest bid for public exposure. The narrative then shifts with "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody," where Mikuru transports Kyon back in time to avert an impending disaster, leading Kyon to a fateful encounter with a younger Haruhi during her middle school years. The adventures continue in "Mysterique Sign," which tasks the SOS Brigade with investigating the mysterious disappearance of the computer club president. Finally, in "Remote Island Syndrome," a vacation at an island villa belonging to Itsuki's relative takes a dark turn when a dead body is discovered, drawing Haruhi and the group into a thrilling murder mystery.
