Republic of China 1922: Emergence after the Zhili-Fengtian War

In June 1922, the First Zhili-Fengtian War concluded with the catastrophic defeat of the Fengtian Army. Retreating beyond Shanhaiguan, General Zhang Zuolin declared regional autonomy and, resolved to learn from this bitter experience, initiated a comprehensive military overhaul by establishing the Army Reorganization Office. Gu Cheng, a modern military enthusiast, is dispatched to Jinzhou to work alongside veteran Fengtian commander Tang Yulin. Together, they establish a strategic encampment, defend against the watchful Zhili forces, and rebuild the vital military stronghold. Two years later, the Fengtian Army achieves sweeping redemption. Yet, Gu Cheng knows that an even greater conflict, one destined to engulf all of China, is already brewing on the horizon.
