My Dear Detective: Mitsuko’s Case Files

Set against the backdrop of the turbulent Showa era of the 1930s, *My Dear Detective: Mitsuko’s Case Files* follows Hoshino Mitsuko, a fiercely dedicated woman striving to make her mark in a society where career women are exceedingly rare and heavily marginalized. Overcoming rampant sexism and relentless societal pressure to conform to traditional domestic roles, Mitsuko remains utterly resolute in her ambition to establish herself as a successful, independent private investigator. Her life takes a pivotal turn when she is approached by Yoshida Saku, a handsome local waiter who brings forward her very first solo case. As the pair collaborate to untangle the mystery, Mitsuko discovers that Saku possesses a remarkably capable mind—albeit paired with a deeply inquisitive nature—prompting her to formally enlist him as her new assistant. Together, this dynamic duo must navigate not only the complexities of crime within a shifting societal landscape, but also the daunting prejudices of a bygone era.
