Yusei constantly tells himself that he despises his best friend, Itsuki. Gifted, charismatic, and effortlessly talented, Itsuki possesses the ability to secure a place at any prestigious university or excel on any sports team he chooses. Yet, instead of pursuing these boundless opportunities, he dedicates his time entirely to Yusei. This baffling devotion only deepens Yusei’s internal turmoil, leaving him struggling against emotions he cannot fully comprehend or accept. To protect himself from feelings that threaten to overwhelm him, Yusei adopts a mask of hostility. He feigns resentment toward Itsuki, hoping this manufactured disdain will either extinguish his growing attachment or create enough distance between them to make the bond manageable. It is a desperate strategy aimed at pushing away the one person who matters most to him, driven by the fear of confronting what his heart truly wants. However, maintaining such an elaborate facade takes its toll. As Yusei continues to deny his genuine emotions, he is forced to question whether pretending can ever truly alter what he feels inside.
