Hatena Illusion

Makoto Shiranui has harbored a singular dream ever since he witnessed a breathtaking performance by the world-renowned magician Mamoru Hoshisato and his wife, Maive. Determined to follow in their footsteps, the young boy travels to Tokyo with the hope of becoming an apprentice to Mamoru, who is also a longtime friend of his parents. Makoto shares a deep history with the Hoshisato family, having been childhood friends with their daughter Kana, affectionately known as Hatena. Despite unsettling reports of a beautiful female thief orchestrating a string of burglaries across the city, Makoto feels secure knowing that Hatena is nearby. Upon arriving at the Hoshisato estate—an imposing mansion rumored to be haunted—Makoto is welcomed by the household staff, including the butler Jeeves and the maid Emma. However, his long-anticipated reunion with Hatena quickly shatters his expectations. Rather than picking up where they left off, the two discover that time apart has created a rift between them, and they no longer get along. Now navigating both a strained relationship with his oldest friend and the mysteries surrounding his new home, Makoto must find his footing as he begins his journey toward mastering the art of illusion.
