The Swindler and the Fool

Han I-ryeong believed herself to be the sharpest mind in all of Joseon, a cynical swindler who always stayed one step ahead of her marks. That confidence shatters when her own gang betrays her, leaving her abandoned and condemned to face the executioner’s lash. Just as her desperate situation seems hopeless, an imposing, brawny country man steps forward with an unexpected offer: he will endure her punishment in exchange for a marriage contract. Seeing an easy opportunity, I-ryeong accepts without hesitation, secretly planning to rob her naive new husband blind and disappear into the night before he realizes what has happened. However, her flawless escape plan unravels completely behind closed doors. The man she dismissed as a dim-witted oaf reveals a startlingly different side once they are alone. Beneath his sweet, simple exterior burns an intense, relentless passion that catches the seasoned con artist entirely off guard. Instead of slipping away into the darkness, I-ryeong finds her cunning defenses thoroughly dismantled by his overwhelming heat, leaving her eagerly surrendering to desires she never anticipated.
