Summary
Official Details
Azuki-chan follows the story of Azusa Noyama, a young schoolgirl who has long despised her childhood nickname. The moniker originated from a simple mispronunciation of her real name when she was younger, and it remained a source of embarrassment until a pivotal day in her classroom. When a classmate named Ken-chan teases her about the nickname, a newly transferred student named Yunosuke Ogasawara happens to pass by. Rather than mocking her, he cheerfully commits the name to memory, making Azusa the first girl to catch his attention. Thrilled by his warm reaction, she instantly falls in love with him and finally begins to embrace the nickname she once hated. Despite her newfound affection for both Yunosuke and her name, Azusa soon faces the emotional turbulence of young romance. She finds herself growing increasingly jealous whenever she sees him chatting casually with other girls, left bewildered as to why he remains completely oblivious to her feelings. Her struggle to capture his heart drives the emotional core of the series. The manga is divided into two distinct narrative arcs, chronicling her journey first through elementary school—which was also adapted into an animated series—and later into junior high school.
