Star Ocean: The Far Side of Time

Star Ocean: The Far Side of Time marks the beginning of the epic Star Ocean saga. On the underdeveloped planet of Roak, young Fellpool swordsman Ratix Farrence serves in the Clatos Brigade, a local defense force protecting his hometown alongside his friend Dorn Marto. Their peaceful lives are shattered when a mysterious contagion begins turning the inhabitants of the northern city of Cool to stone. When Milly Kiliet’s father—a healer and Crest Magic practitioner who is also Milly’s parent and Ratix’s secret admirer—falls victim to the plague while attempting to cure it, Ratix, Dorn, and Milly embark on a desperate quest to Mount Metox to retrieve a legendary herb said to heal any ailment. Upon reaching the summit, they encounter two strangers emerging from a blinding light: Ronixis J. Kenni, captain of the Earth Federation starship Calnus, and his blonde companion. They reveal that the petrification disease is a biological weapon deployed by the Resonians, an alien civilization currently at war with the Earth Federation. As the group joins forces, they must unravel why an advanced interstellar power would target a primitive world and uncover the true purpose behind this devastating attack.
