Daphne in the Brilliant Blue

In a future where global warming has submerged most of the Earth, fifteen-year-old orphan Maia Mizuki dreams of joining the elite Ocean Agency, the paramilitary arm of the world government. Despite her intelligence and dedication, Maia’s aspirations crumble when she fails the entrance exams. Her misfortunes compound rapidly as she is evicted from her home, robbed, taken hostage, and shot in a single disastrous day. Rescued by Rena and Shizuka, members of an unorthodox private assistance organization known as the Nereids, Maia finds herself with nowhere else to turn and joins their eclectic team. Together with fellow recruits Gloria and Yu, she takes on jobs ranging from capturing criminals to chasing stray cats, often with chaotic and unexpected results. Set against a backdrop of vast oceans and floating cities with almost no remaining land, the series follows Maia’s journey of resilience and self-discovery, eventually uncovering a mysterious subplot tied to the name "Daphne" that becomes central to her destiny in this brilliant blue world.
