Birdy the Mighty (II)

A remake of the original *Birdy the Mighty*, the series follows Federation agent Birdy Cephon Altera as she pursues interplanetary fugitives to Earth. During one such chase, she inadvertently kills high school student Tsutomu Senkawa. To save his life, Tsutomu is fused into Birdy’s body, where he must remain until his own body can be fully repaired. Now sharing a form with a beautiful, powerful, and headstrong space police officer, Tsutomu struggles to hide their dual existence from his family and friends while Birdy presses on with her mission. Together, they find themselves confronting a clandestine ring of alien conspirators who are secretly plotting to carry out horrific experiments on Earth’s unsuspecting population. The original manga was serialized in what is now *Monthly Sunday*, but after Masami Yuki began running *Kyuukyoku Choujin R* in *Shonen Sunday*, installments of *Birdy the Mighty* grew sporadic and the series was ultimately discontinued, with only a single collected volume ever released. In 2003, Yuki moved from *Shonen Sunday* to the seinen magazine *Weekly Young Sunday* and launched a complete remake, retelling the story from its very beginning.
