Priest Genjo Sanzo and his companions, Cho Hakkai, Sha Gojyo, and Son Goku, continue their perilous westward journey to stop the resurrection of the powerful demon Gyoumao. As their reputation precedes them, they face demon assassins at every turn, struggling to maintain their unity in order to defeat their formidable foe. The increasing tensions within the group exacerbate the challenges they face, threatening to undermine their mission and their relationships with each other.
