The narrative follows two schoolmates, Machizo and Tetsuo, who join forces to create manga. Machizo is the son of a celebrated mangaka, a legacy that leaves him feeling perpetually overshadowed and breeding quiet resentment toward his father’s acclaim. Tetsuo, meanwhile, shares a passion for drawing and possesses considerable skill—and his favorite manga artist happens to be Machizo’s father. In pursuit of a contest win, the pair form a partnership: Machizo handles the storytelling while Tetsuo brings the pages to life. Complicating their dynamic is Kimiko, a volatile girl whose unrequited feelings for Tetsuo add an unpredictable edge to their efforts.
