In an alternate 21st-century Japan, an invading force armed with vastly superior technology launches an offensive from Hokkaido against the mainland, crushing both the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and allied American troops. In response, Japanese military researchers reverse-engineer captured enemy hardware to build their own combat mecha and repel the onslaught. Meanwhile, a reclusive boy named Yuu—a mechanical prodigy plagued by motion sickness—lives at a temple with his uncle. For more than seven years, he has been estranged from his younger sister, only for her to suddenly reemerge at the shrine clad in shrine maiden attire and accompanied by a fox. Her true identity remains a mystery, yet her unexpected return coincides with the revelation of classified military developments and Yuu's own hidden psychic abilities, upending his isolated existence just as the war moves closer.
