Gear Garden and the Silent One

In 2025, the "Silent Tide" sweeps across the globe, leaving over forty-seven thousand people in a mysterious coma. Their bodies remain alive while their brainwaves operate with clockwork precision, defying all medical explanation. Neuroscientist Lin Shen, still haunted by the loss of his beloved to the same condition three years prior, takes on patient number 47,284: an eight-year-old autistic boy named Little Star. The child has never spoken or called for his mother, spending his days drawing spirals that adhere to the golden ratio with mathematical exactness. Risking permanent neurological damage, Lin Shen dives into the boy’s consciousness. Instead of chaos, he discovers a universe of absolute order constructed entirely from gears. In this realm, silent beings communicate through rhythm, guards are formed from fragments of trauma, and a suspended, luminous cocoon preserves a single frozen moment in time: 11:47, the exact minute the boy's father left. To reach the cocoon, Lin Shen must shed his human identity, shaving his head and learning the language of gears. He eventually realizes that Little Star is not ill, but actively guarding a temporal point on the verge of collapse. When Lin Shen finally pries open the cocoon, the voiceless child delivers a message that shatters the world's order: "The outside is about to break." A single child’s trauma masks a crisis threatening an entire civilization. Seven years later, the first victim awakens in Finland, the military loses control of the "Echo Protocol," and a void appears in the universal model. As the gears begin to turn, the truth reveals only its first tooth. What begins as a quest to understand one child ultimately becomes a journey to save time itself.
