In the primeval age of antiquity, the Celestial Emperor Dijun and the Queen Mother of the West fell in love atop Kunlun's peak. Yet when Dijun later married Xihe and Changxi to secure the demon clan's heavenly court, the disappointed Queen Mother bred a fixation deep within her heart, giving rise to the Golden Mother's Heart Demon. This malevolent entity orchestrated the calamity of ten suns blazing together and joined forces with the demon realm to launch a massive invasion, plunging the mortal world into untold suffering. Dijun sacrificed his divine soul, using the Sun-Sword to seal the Heart Demon's origin beneath Kunlun, and buried his own lifebound divine blade, the Fuguang Zhenyue Sword, deep within the Qinling mountain veins to isolate the demonic miasma and protect the mortal realm. Three thousand years passed, and the Kunlun seal gradually weakened. The Golden Mother's Heart Demon began to stir, dispatching Dijiang to massacre Luochen Village, the generations-long guardians of the divine sword. The young protagonist Tianhun witnessed the slaughter of his entire family and neighbors, his own soul grievously wounded and on the verge of extinction. The ancient divine beast Bai Ze rescued him and brought him into the Worriless Secret Forest. While all others who sought to subdue the remnant branch of the divine Ruomu tree had to let go of love and hatred and attain a clear mind, Tianhun took the opposite path—relying on the stubborn pride forged from his blood-soaked vengeance, he defied all odds and subdued the ancient Ruomu remnant. The divine tree fused with his soul in symbiosis, mending his shattered spirit with primordial vitality. Bai Ze then made a pact with him: Tianhun must wander the mortal world to temper his heart, and only when he reaches the Cloud-Sichuan Pass in the western frontier and defeats his own self in battle may he reclaim the Fuguang Zhenyue Sword. Leaving the secret realm, Tianhun first stepped into the mundane world and, in the town of Fengli, met Xin Jiuer, who concealed her fox-clan identity. The young girl secretly robbed the rich to aid the poor, and after sharing life-and-death perils, they grew fond of each other. On his westward journey, he encountered the exceptionally gifted Ling Shuangjin, and the three companions traveled west together, braving countless dangers and glimpsing the deep-laid schemes of the demon realm. Along the way, they witnessed the bitterness of parting, the displacement of countless lives, and the shackles of fate. Gradually, Tianhun came to see through the very root of all things...
