Fumihiko Matsumaru, a 26-year-old salaryman, is stood up at the movies by a girl he invited. Just as he's about to discard his tickets, a cute girl named Aka Onda appears and asks him not to waste them. After a night out together, Aka's apartment is discovered to be on fire, and she moves into Matsumaru's place. As they navigate their living situation, a "more than friends but not yet lovers" relationship develops, but their close quarters are complicated by the challenges of their daily lives.
