In a distant future, the war between humanity and the Gamilon has devastated the planet Earth, with constant bombardment of radioactive asteroids rendering the atmosphere uninhabitable. As a last hope for relief, Queen Starsha of the planet Iscandar offers the Earth Forces a device capable of neutralizing the planet's radiation. To retrieve this device, the space battleship Yamato is launched on a perilous 148,000 light-year journey to Iscandar. With a limited window of just one Earth year to complete the mission, the crew of the Yamato must succeed in their quest to save humanity from extinction, as failure would ultimately seal the fate of the human race.
