The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya

In the fourth installment of the Haruhi Suzumiya series, the season has turned to Christmas, and Haruhi, ever in search of something new, has planned a special celebration: a Christmas Eve hot pot feast. But on December 18th, Kyon makes a startling discovery. The world he knows—the one where Haruhi Suzumiya exists as the leader of the SOS Brigade—has vanished. In its place is a world that feels both familiar and foreign. Haruhi is still there, but she is no longer the brigade chief; she is just an ordinary high school girl. Asahina is still there, but she is no longer a time traveler; she is simply a kind upperclassman. Nagato is still there, but she is no longer the quiet, bespectacled alien. Koizumi is still there, but he is no longer a visitor from another world; he is just someone who follows Haruhi around. Unable to accept this new reality, Kyon is nearly driven to despair and resolves to find his way back to the original world. But whether that world can ever be found again remains uncertain.
