What Is an Offensive Defensive Midfielder?

With no barrier to entry for new readers and backed by the author’s proven track record of a completed four-million-word bestseller, this story delivers high-quality football drama. The narrative centers on Ralf Rangnick’s tactical philosophy at RB Leipzig, which prioritizes intense pressing, aggressive tackling, and swift counterattacks. As the newly appointed head coach, Rangnick is determined to implement his attacking vision across the team. However, the protagonist, Hao Ren, faces a critical dilemma: he is a pure defensive midfielder, a role seemingly incompatible with Rangnick’s high-octane system. Just as Hao Ren struggles to find his place in the squad, a system activates, granting him access to elite player templates. Initially, he receives the "Precise Tackle" template modeled after Claude Makélélé, followed by Moisés Caicedo’s "Aggressive Sliding Tackle" and Frenkie de Jong’s "Ball Progression" skills. Confused and frustrated, Hao Ren realizes these additions still anchor him in traditional defensive or transitional roles rather than the offensive prowess he needs. The turning point arrives when he unlocks a unique talent: "Defense to Offense." This ability reveals a paradoxical mechanic where his defensive actions directly amplify his offensive power, forcing him to redefine what it means to be an attacking defensive midfielder.
