Ancient Spirits, Please Possess Something Normal!

Deng Ru once encounters a self-proclaimed ancient spirit who claims to have stood at the pinnacle of power in the Great Chu dynasty and to have been Yang Youji, the greatest archer of the Spring and Autumn period. The spirit even offers to take Deng Ru as a disciple in exchange for three strips of cured meat. There is only one problem: the legendary archer is speaking through a fire hydrant. After striking the hydrant with a stone, Deng Ru discovers that ordinary objects can reveal dialogue windows and favorability ratings when inhabited by ancient spirits. What begins as a bizarre encounter opens the door to an entirely new world. A broken Stone Guardian monument claims to be Li Dingguo, who defended a besieged city for fifty years while longing to return home. A Yama statue declares itself to be Qin Shi Huang, Ying Zheng—and asks Deng Ru to send it fifty yuan. Before long, Deng Ru can only conclude that either he or the world around him has completely lost its mind.
