Double Fake: Under the Gundam

The year is Universal Century 0090. Though the First Neo Zeon War has officially concluded, the Earth Sphere remains a tinderbox of unresolved hostility, its fragile peace sustained more by exhaustion than genuine accord. While the Earth Federation turns its attention to rebuilding the colonies shattered by conflict, the daunting task falls to civilian contractors who must operate within the precarious buffer zone of a ceasefire that could collapse at any moment. Among these frontline workers is Darry Neil Guns, a team leader for the Colony Public Corporation firm Monotone Mouse. A devoted Gundam fanatic, Darry has poured his passion into an unorthodox project: constructing a functional mobile suit entirely from salvaged scrap and discarded parts. When Neo Zeon holdouts launch a sudden assault on the reconstruction site, Darry has no choice but to pilot his cobbled-together machine into the fray. But his homemade creation proves too convincing. Mistaking it for a genuine Federation Gundam, the enemy forces react with panic and fierce aggression—and worse, word of the "sighting" spreads. Suddenly, both remnants and Federation intelligence are scrambling to claim the powerful weapon they believe exists, placing Darry and his rickety imitation at the center of a dangerous illusion he never intended to create.
