When Eldritch Gods Hold Meetings in My Head

Since arriving in a steam-powered world teeming with hidden supernatural forces, Richard has been plagued by disembodied voices in his head. ["Creation can give you everything you desire."] ["Don't listen to him—I am the beacon that will guide you to the throne!"] ["Perhaps we need to come to a consensus."] … Eavesdropping on their cryptic suggestions, Richard uncovers a chest left behind by a wealthy schoolmate—inside, he finds luxurious silk that could change a poor man's life, and an inexplicable supernatural sewing machine. Step by step, he is pulled into a vortex of the occult, crossing paths with an unhinged doctor of madness, a coal miner who remains impeccably refined, and even a painter who cannot paint. "I swear, I never meant to discover that the kingdom's top female artist doesn't know how to draw!" Richard exclaims under a reporter's ambush. In response, he convenes an emergency meeting of the eldritch gods. ["I've never been famous—how would I know what to do?"] ["I suggest you have that lady painter do an impromptu live performance; painting on the spot will prove her innocence!"] … As a murky investigation unfolds in the shadows, and an absurdly unusual daily life descends upon him, Richard's existence is thrown into complete chaos. "I suspect there are many unspeakable entities hidden inside me—and they might be evil."
