The early 1980s in Tokyo provide a gritty backdrop for the story of Kaze Takashi, a teenager whose concerned parents uproot their lives and relocate to a tranquil suburban neighborhood. Their drastic decision is born of a singular fear: that Takashi’s current circle of friends will lead him down a destructive path. Hoping that a change of scenery will provide a fresh start, they enroll him in a new school, praying that the quiet streets will offer better influences than the ones he left behind. However, old habits prove difficult to shake. Takashi quickly acclimates to his new environment and, before long, finds himself surrounded by a fresh group of classmates who share a rebellious spark. They extend an invitation that will alter his trajectory: a chance to meet their motorcycle club, known as the Zeros. Drawn to the raw power and freedom of the machines, Takashi discovers an all-consuming passion for riding and is rapidly pulled into the gang’s fold. As he becomes entangled in their high-speed world of camaraderie and risk, the initial thrill gives way to a daunting reality. With his parents’ anxieties now a distant echo, Takashi must confront the dangerous life he has chosen and ask himself whether he possesses the strength to bear the inevitable fallout.
