Ura Baito: Toubou Kinshi

In the shadows of a society that prefers to look away, there exists a breed of employment that defies legal definition—"ura baito," or underground part-time work. These are the jobs that fill the gaps in the system: unregulated, morally gray, and terrifyingly lucrative. The pay is exceptionally high, a siren's call for the desperate. But there is a catch that is never written in the contract, a fine print that is carved in blood rather than ink. The currency is not just time or effort; it is the very thread of one's existence. The price, inevitably, is your life. Caught in the crushing vice of immediate financial ruin, two young women, Yume Kokuryo and Nagomi Shirahama, find their options dwindling to nothing. Desperation is a powerful solvent, dissolving caution and good judgment. With no time to weigh the consequences, they plunge headfirst into this treacherous underworld, taking on one perilous assignment after another. What begins as a reckless gamble to secure quick cash quickly spirals into a waking nightmare, where the line between worker and prey blurs to the point of vanishing. In a world where a single misstep can be fatal, Yume and Nagomi must navigate a labyrinth of lethal tasks and dangerous patrons, discovering that the most terrifying part of their new jobs might not be the work itself—but the terrifying realization that for those who enter, there is no way out.
