Kominka Gal to Renovation Gurashi

When Kazukage’s marriage collapses under the weight of a false domestic violence accusation he cannot remember committing, he finds himself not only divorced but utterly displaced—robbed of the one place he could call home. Aimless and wounded, he is ready to drift through the aftermath of his shattered life when a bright, unapologetically cheerful gyaru calls out to him with an unexpected offer: a place to stay. That gyaru is Karen, his childhood playmate from years gone by, the very girl who once joined him in building secret bases and dreaming up adventures in the corners of their neighborhood. But the refuge Karen provides is far from conventional. Instead of a trendy apartment or a sleek modern space, she leads him to a sprawling, weathered traditional kominka—an old Japanese house steeped in history and bowed under decades of neglect. It is drafty, dusty, and falling apart, a far cry from the carefree image its owner projects. As the two set to work restoring the crumbling structure, hammering loose planks and patching worn tatami, the physical labor becomes a quiet catalyst for something deeper. With each repaired beam and polished floorboard, the barriers around their hearts begin to crumble as well. Together, they navigate old memories, fresh pain, and the tentative rekindling of a bond that once meant everything. Amidst the scent of aged wood and fresh paint, this renovation is not just about saving a house—it is about rebuilding two broken lives, one nail and one honest conversation at a time, just like the secret base they built so long ago.
