Tangled Roots and Branches

An ordinary blind date plunges plain woman Li Han into a snare of fate. Mist by the river, haunting dreams, and a mysterious man drag her into the vortex of a parallel dimension. She meets the gentle, gentlemanly He An and believes it to be a godsend—until she is knocked unconscious and wakes up strapped to an operating table. He An intends to steal her administrator privileges over the parallel universes, and his deadly plot tears open the truth. In that critical moment, her buried memories erupt: Li Han is merely a shell identity; her true soul is Agent 002, a high-ranking judge from the Spacetime Headquarters, demoted to the grassroots for breaking the rules. Restored to power, 002 hunts down He An, only to witness the most harrowing scene in Universe B: He An has murdered his own birth mother—a woman in a blue cheongsam who is none other than the real Li Han, whose identity 002 had usurped and whom she had wronged. Stricken with guilt, 002 realizes that she herself is the one who pushed Li Han into the abyss and set the matricide in motion. Overwhelmed by remorse, 002 desperately initiates a temporal rewind to save Li Han. But Li Han had long foreseen her fate and willingly embraces death, using her maternal life force to sustain He An’s existence. Spacetime collapses, universes perish, and 002 discovers that she is merely a consciousness copy of Li Han—all her resistance is trapped within an inescapable loop of destiny. She defies the heavens, reincarnates as a man, and yet crosses paths with Li Han once more, giving birth to He An, who is destined to kill his mother—and the cycle begins anew.
