Rororro!

At twelve years old, Chitose Morishige has already accepted a painful truth: she is utterly alone. A seventh-grader with no friends to speak of, she spends her days in quiet isolation, her loneliness a constant ache that even her loving father cannot ignore. Determined to give his daughter the companionship she so desperately craves, Professor Morishige, a brilliant robotics engineer, builds an android unlike any other—a lifelike girl designed to be Chitose’s perfect friend. But his creation works a little too well. When Chitose meets Ichika Robata, she is utterly convinced that this gentle, expressive girl is simply a runaway or perhaps even a kidnapping victim held against her will by the professor. No amount of logical explanation, mechanical demonstration, or outright declaration can sway Chitose from her belief. And so Ichika finds herself in a maddening predicament: she must prove, beyond any doubt, that she is a genuine robot. Her every earnest attempt—from showing off her internal wiring to performing stilted, robotic movements—backfires in spectacularly absurd fashion, leaving Chitose more convinced than ever of her human fragility. As Ichika’s misadventures pile up, what begins as a simple malfunction of intent becomes a heartfelt, comedic struggle between a girl desperate for friendship and a robot desperate to be believed.
