Tales of Berseria

Tales of Berseria unfolds on the continent of Glenwood, in an age long before the events of Tales of Zestiria. At its heart lies the Sacred Kingdom of Midgand, a realm stretching across numerous large islands and scattered archipelagos. So vast is this domain that its northern and southern regions boast distinctly different climates, with the north lately battered by increasingly severe snowstorms as the world steadily grows colder. Though the Kingdom works to advance its shipbuilding capabilities, unforgiving weather forces seaborne trade along well-established routes—passages relentlessly plagued by pirates. Three years ago, a sickness known as Daemonblight swept across the land, warping those it afflicted into Daemons and plunging the world into an age of chaos. Even so, Velvet lived in relative comfort with her family in a remote corner of the Kingdom—until one night, beneath a rising red moon, she was betrayed by Artorius, the man who had once been her savior. She lost her family that night, and her left arm became host to a mysterious power that devours Daemons. In the aftermath, Artorius founded the Abbey and its Exorcists, restoring a measure of order to the world. Hailed as the world's savior, he now stands as the sole object of Velvet's burning wrath.
