The early 1920s mark a tumultuous shift in Japanese society, but for Tamahiko Shima, the upheaval is deeply personal. As the son of a powerful and unforgiving wealthy family, his future once seemed assured—until a tragic accident leaves his right arm permanently crippled. Deemed defective and unworthy of the family lineage by his father, Tamahiko is swiftly cast aside and exiled to a remote countryside estate. There, the bitter and despondent teenager resigns himself to a solitary existence, viewing his new home not as a refuge, but as a gilded cage where he will quietly wither away, abandoned by the world he once knew. Just as his despair solidifies into numb acceptance, an unexpected visitor shatters his isolation. His father, in a calculated act of charity, has purchased him a bride—a young girl named Yuzuki Tachibana, who arrives at his doorstep with nothing but her unwavering cheerfulness and a determination to care for him. Innocent and radiant, Yuzuki is everything Tamahiko is not: hopeful, gentle, and stubbornly optimistic. Her presence is an unwelcome disruption at first, yet her simple kindness slowly chips away at the fortress of cynicism he has built around his heart. Through daily meals, quiet conversations, and shared moments of healing, Yuzuki’s infectious light begins to thaw Tamahiko’s frozen worldview. What started as a transaction slowly transforms into something far deeper, as the damaged young man dares to imagine a future worth living. But with his family’s shadow looming large and the scars of his past still fresh, Tamahiko must learn that true redemption lies not in reclaiming his former status, but in accepting the fragile, unexpected love that has found him in the middle of nowhere.
