Sakikaeri-hime no Homura Uta - Suterareta Hana wa Fukushuu ni Mau

Born as the third princess of the Kingdom of Tou, Shuki has never known the warmth of royal favor. From her earliest days, she has been subjected to relentless scorn and derision, a target of courtly malice stemming from the circumstances of her lineage. Navigating a palace that views her as an inconvenience, she endures a solitary existence steeped in whispered insults and cold indifference. The sole comfort in her bleak life is Kouei, her childhood friend and steadfast confidant. Their bond, cultivated through years of shared secrets and quiet support, serves as her only refuge—a fragile promise of tenderness in a world determined to deny her any. Yet the machinations of politics are merciless, and Shuki’s fragile peace is viciously upended when a cruel twist of fate intervenes. In a single, devastating decree, she is bartered away to a neighboring kingdom, betrothed to its second prince as little more than a pawn in a diplomatic transaction. The arranged marriage tears her from the only person who ever brought her joy, forcing her to exchange the faint hope of a life with Kouei for the cold, uncertain embrace of a foreign court. Stripped of her home, her agency, and her dearest companion, Shuki finds herself a hostage to duty in an alien land where trust is a luxury she can no longer afford. As she steps into this gilded prison, the discarded princess must grapple with the crushing weight of betrayal and loss. Yet beneath the veneer of a resigned bride, a quiet fire begins to kindle—a resolve born from the ashes of her shattered happiness. The flower long trampled underfoot begins to stir, its petals steeped not in sorrow, but in the promise of retribution. For Shuki, the path of a sacrificial princess may yet lead to a far darker dance, where every courtly smile conceals a blade, and her survival depends on mastering the game before it consumes her entirely.
